VAST Trainings

We offer training and professional development workshops on refugee mental health and recovery from torture and trauma for health, education and social services providers, law firms and practicum students. VAST is a member of more than 30 local, provincial, national and international advisory committees and working groups to advance the rights of refugees and access to mental health support. Since 1986 we have provided essential training

VAST has support from the Province of British Columbia to support with Capacity Building for those serving refugees, refugee claimants, and other survivors of forced migration in BC, and is able to offer subsidized training rates upon request. Normally, we will do our best to work within the budgets of the agencies that we provide training for.

VAST has immense experience as direct service provider and as a capacity builder and advisor in supporting the mental health of refugees who arrive in British Columbia with psychological trauma as a result of torture, political violence and other forms of persecution on the basis of race, religion, gender identity and sexual orientation.
